Inspiring You has joined forces with Steeltech Sheds to help get primary school students baking and decorating cakes this Christmas. Learning and fun can take many different forms. We would love to see as many children as possible getting creative for “The Great Steeltech Bake Off”
Fun and creativity are key ingredients!
The idea for this competition is really simple. Bake a cake in the shape of a Steeltech shed, garage, chalet. The cake will be judged on appearance alone. The two key ingredients needed for the “Bake Off” competition are fun and creativity.
Deadline for entering
Images of your creation must be submitted by Tuesday the 11th of December at 5pm. Checkout out the submission page here
Top 10 selected for “Bake Off “final
The top ten finalists will be contacted by phone and must be available to attend, “The Great Steeltech Grand Final” at 7pm on Friday the 14th of December. Each finalists cake will be posted on social media and related websites prior to judging.
Judging takes place in Claregalway Castle
It should be a very memorable evening as the final will be judged in the luxurious surroundings of Claregalway Castle . Each finalist must bring their cake to the castle for judging. You will not have any baking to do on the night. All you have to do is simply relax and enjoy the occasion. Each finalist will be allowed bring two guests to support them on the night of the final.
Gold in the World Bakery championships
Jimmy Griffin, of Griffins Bakery in Galway, will be judging the lucky finalists. He is regarded as one of the world’s finest bakers and pastry chefs and has coached Ireland to gold in the World Bakery championships.
Creativity and imagination
The emphasis for this competition is on creativity and imagination. Jimmy will be judging on the cakes presentation alone.
“The Great Steeltech Bake Off 2018” Cup
The lucky winner will receive €100 and the much coveted, “The Great Steeltech Bake Off 2019” Cup. As it is the season of giving the winner’s class will be treated to a hot chocolate and pastry in Griffin’s Bakery
Fun tour of Galway City
To finish off the celebrations the winner’s class will also be given a walking tour by the highly engaging and entertaining Shane Spelman of Galway City Tours. Shane can tailor the tour to suit the needs and interests of the group. He is also known to finish some of his tours with a song or two!
A “Knight” Airbnb for the teachers!
Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten the hardworking teachers! The teacher of the winning student will receive a night airbnb in the luxurious environs of Claregalway Castle. No better way to unwind after a busy term at school!
Pride of place
The “icing on the cake” for the winning student is that their cake will have pride of place in Griffin’s window in the lead up to Christmas. Shop Street in Galway is one of the busiest shopping streets in Ireland. Your creation might well turn some heads this Christmas!
Get baking and decorating
Inspiring You wants young people to become more active in real life activities and not to rely on social media for “likes” to feel good about themselves. What better way to have fun than get baking and decorating with your fellow students, family and friends?
