Inspiring You, compromises of two friends who work in education and media. Together they work to engage young people in real life activities and to use social media less. The duo has again teamed up with leading Irish musician Damien Dempsey to nurture the next generation of songwriters.
Skies of Blue
Last year we ran a very successful competition with Damien themed, “Sing All Your Cares Away”. We were blown away by the quality of the entries from around Ireland. The winners were the talented Aisling Mullarkey and Hope Gillespie from St. Mary’s Secondary School, Ballina, Co.Mayo who won with their evocative song, “Skies of Blue”
Love Yourself Today Competition
In these challenging times we are encouraging primary and secondary students to compose an original song expressing how they are feeling for our, “Love Yourself Today” song competition. The song can be fun, reflective, optimistic – the choice is yours.
In the words of Damien, “Music is about healing, community and hope. It’s a way of life.” The Dublin songwriter is delighted to offer his support to “Inspiring You” in working to harness the creative energies of our nation’s youth.
It’s All Good
Damien released his heartfelt ballad, “It’s All Good” in 2003 which encourages us to accept ourselves for who we are and ultimately to love ourselves everyday. In a world filled with war and social media obsession the songs message is more relevant today than ever before. The Dublin balladeer believes that music can, “Soothe the soul” and so do we!
The power in Damien’s lyrics and the way his songs can impact people’s lives is beautifully captured in the newly released, “Love Yourself Today” documentary directed by Ross Killeen.
The 3 Galway Girls & Damien Dempsey
Earlier this year Damien paid a visit to historic Claregalway Castle and performed his iconic, “It’s All Good” with rising stars of traditional music, “The 3 Galway Girls”. Our media partner, Kamil Krolak, captured Damo’s song in all its power and glory.
The “Love Yourself Today” schools’ competition is open to students of all ages, with the winner receiving a special class/club visit from the legendary Damien himself!
We are delighted to have Dawnlough Precision as our #LoveYourselfToday sponsor. When they learnt about our song competition they were excited to come onboard and help encourage the next generation of songwriters to enter.
