Leading Irish musician Damien Dempsey has teamed up with the organization Inspiring You to launch the “Born Without Hate” project, which encourages students of all ages to express solidarity with the Palestinian people through creative arts. The initiative takes its name from Dempsey’s 2012 song, “Born without Hate” which emphasizes the importance of compassion and standing up for the oppressed.
Love and Empathy
We believe that being “Born Without Hate” is a universal concept that promotes love, empathy, and anti-war sentiments. This campaign aims to use music and the creative arts as a form of therapy and a tool for change, mirroring how music has historically been used in Ireland to “Sing all our Cares away” and worldwide to heal and inspire people during difficult times.
What is the “Born Without Hate” project?
The project encourages both primary and secondary school students to sing, compose, or create artwork that expresses empathy for the Palestinian people. The initiative suggests that teachers and students can integrate this work into their school curriculum across various subjects, including history, art, and English.
Meeting with the Palestinian ambassador
Damien Dempsey and Philip Cribbin from Inspiring You met with the Palestinian Ambassador, Dr. Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid recently to discuss how we could raise awareness for the Palestinian people.
The ambassador asked for people not to stop talking about Palestine. She noted how songs of support, whether they are original compositions or covers, will help strengthen the resilience of Palestinian children and show them they are not forgotten. Our campaign highlights that music and art can empower the soul of the oppressed and serve as a beacon of hope.
Why not be creative for Palestine?
Anyone can become involved. Students can share their creative works on social media using the hashtags #BornWithoutHate and #SingaSongforPalestine to help spread awareness and support. We will share some of your work on our social media @Inspiringyouirl
By participating in this project, students are encouraged to use their creative energy to inspire change and demonstrate a collective show of support for the Palestinian people, with the hope of making the world a better place, one lyric at a time.
