Honoring “Siege at Jadotville” veterans

Siege at Jadotville veterans to be honored in Custume Barracks on Dec. 2nd

The team Inspiringyouirl as well as the students at Malahide Community School and Galway Community College would like to wish all the survivors and their families of the Siege of Jadotville veterans a very memorable day at Custume Barracks in Athlone.

The students from Dublin and Galway joined forces to help “right a wrong” and shine a light on the bravery of the men of “A” Company. Inspiring You helped provide the platform for the students and members of the public to help promote our #Medal4Quinlan &

#MedalsforJadotville and put pressure on the government to award these heroes medals after 56 years of misinformation and neglect as to the heroism 155 men displayed in the face of 3,000 mercenaries in the Congo in 1961.

We hope that the late Col. Pat Quinlan will receive a richly deserved Medal for Military Gallantry with Honors for his military genius in preserving the lives of all the men in his company despite the overwhelming odds and weak political and military leadership by his superiors.

The story of the Heroes of Jadotville will forever be remembered as of one of true bravery and leadership by the men of “A” Company.
